Wireless Electric Dog Fence
- (Wireless electricity) Wireless energy transfer or Wireless Power is the process that takes place in any system where electrical energy is transmitted from a power source to an electrical load without interconnecting wires.
- (the) a long-standing attempt to keep the dingo away from farms and pastoral holdings, the Dog Fence traverses five deserts and three states. It's the longest man-made structure in the world, stretching 5400km from the Great Australian Bight in SA through most of Queensland.
- The Dingo Fence or Dog Fence is a pest-exclusion fence that was built in Australia during the 1880s and finished in 1885, to keep dingoes out of the relatively fertile south-east part of the continent (where they had largely been exterminated) and protect the sheep flocks of southern Queensland.
how could you not love the monkey faces?
And my boys. Every afternoon when I get home from work I sit on the front steps and let the boys meander a little bit. I have them on a very small radius on their wireless electric fence since the dog attack this winter, but they can still dig, bite rocks, lay in the sun, stretch out on the hot granite front steps of the house, eat grass, chase each other, be dogs. They rarely pay attention to me unless I use the words "inside" or "treat" or "food". But today while fiddling with my camera I happened to catch their interest just briefly. Attention spans like two year olds I tell you.
Northern Electric's Prouder Moments: Vintage Bakelite Radio
One of the many things that we're trying to sell is this Northern Electric radio from the 1950s.
It's a Midge model 5508, made of the then new material bakelite. Bakelite is the very first-generation plastic invented by Belgian scientist Dr. Leo Baekeland.
The radio is in perfectly working conditions. Quite amazing.
Just as I was posting this photo, Nortel Networks, which for decades was one of the world's major wireless and telephony giants, announced that it's being sold to Nokia. Nortel Networks had been in bankruptcy protection for some months.
